Four Thieves: The London Pub With Its Own Car Race Track And Games Room
The Four Thieves is the only place in London where it’s OK to drink and drive.
If you’re done with darts and find pool a pain, The Four Thieves pub in Battersea is surely home to your new favourite pub sport. This much-loved boozer is home to a thrilling games room, and taking pride of place is its own multiplayer racetrack.
Reminiscent of the old Scalextric, the Moonshine Raceway allows up to ten punters to race against each other over 20 frantic laps, using ‘performance matched top range super-cars’ designed by The Racing Bug.

It really is a competitive experience like no other. (Well, OK, it’s a bit like racing real cars, we suppose.)
But we’re not done yet. Under the same roof, you’ll find a forest of classic arcade games, including Time Crisis, Point Blank, and ‘pinball for days’, standing shoulder-to-shoulder with a state-of-the-art VR rig for a bleeding-edge gaming experience.
Alternatively, grab a putter and take on the glow-in-the-dark Plonk crazy golf course, if only to avenge your earlier, inevitable defeat at car racing. Finally, for an altogether more collaborative challenge, you and your cleverest friends can take on the in-pub escape room experience they call Lady Chastity’s Reserve.

On Saturdays, you can kick off your day of play with a bottomless brunch with Boogaloo Stu – it involves bingo – while Tuesday evenings are home to a fierce pub quiz with a £50 first prize.
There is other perfectly decent pub stuff, like beer, and food, comfy sofas downstairs, and a little terrace out the back to enjoy in the summer. But if you’re anything like me, you’ll just want another go on the racetrack. Play on, player!
Location: 51 Lavender Gardens, SW11 1DJ. Nearest stations: Clapham Junction (rail) or Clapham Common (tube). See it on Google Maps.
Opening hours: The pub is open seven days a week from noon; until 10.30pm on Sundays, midnight on Mon-Thu, and 2am Friday-Sat. HOWEVER: the arcade is not open weekday daytimes. The venue is 21+ on weekends.
Entry: Arcade activities can be booked and paid for separately. Car racing is from £3, the VR experience is £15, crazy golf is £6 (no advance booking), the escape room is £20 per person and can handle groups of up to six.

London pub launches glitter gravy for Christmas dinners
Christmas is undeniably a time for sparkle and huge roast dinners, and because this is 2017 someone has decided to combine the two.
Yes, glitter gravy is now a thing.
At The Fox Under the Hill pub in South-East London, diners are being offered the opportunity to “upgrade” their roast dinners throughout December with sparkly gravy.
Because who wouldn’t want glittery turkey?
Traditional gravy infused with sparkly edible glitter, it’s on offer as a side with a selection of the pub’s festive meals, including traditional roast turkey with all the trimmings, butternut and cashew nut roast and Christmas pie.
The pub is part of the Hungry Horse group, who say that if the gravy gets equally sparkling reviews, it may be rolled out across the company’s 292 pubs across the UK.
Ashish Patel, general manager at the Fox Under the Hill, said: “Christmas is one of our favourite times of the year, as it’s the one time we can go all-out on festive decorations, twinkling lights and Christmas cheer!
“We’ve seen some wacky food trends over the years, and our glittery gravy is no exception – it’s the perfect way to spread festive cheer in December.
“We’ve had some great reactions from guests so far as they add a bit of seasonal sparkle to their Christmas meals with our glittering gravy.
Glitter tongue is the weird beauty trend going viral on Instagram
“It would be great to see the dish added to all Hungry Horse Christmas menus across the UK!”
Glitter, sequins and sparkle have become the trends of the moment that just won’t die.
We put it on our faces, in our hair and increasingly in our food. But a dusting of glitter on a cupcake is one thing, glittery gravy poured all over your roast is another.
Is glitter actually going to make your roasties, sprouts and pigs in blankets more appealing to eat?
From the video, not everyone’s convinced the gravy looks exactly tasty, but in the Instagram age in which we live, it’ll probably go down a treat. Think of the Boomerang.

London restaurant is selling a 3kg six patty cheeseburger that comes with a pint of cheese sauce
If your level of eating is right up there with that seen on Man v Food , now you can finally prove just how much you can really consume, in the form of the world’s largest burger.
To celebrate the arrival of new presenter Casey Webb, the official Man v Food has created a 3kg quintuplet cheeseburger, to see if people can put their money where their mouth is.
Not for the faint-hearted (or lactose intolerant), the massive burger consists of five patties, each of which has been injected with a different type of cheese including, Jalapeno, Stilton, Montgomery, Cheddar and American Cheese.
In between each cheese-infused burger is a different layer of meat, including a big apple hot dog, honey roasted ham, smoked ham, roast turkey, streaky bacon, chilli, pickle and tomato all very careful balanced between a soft brioche bun.
To help wash it down, the supersize burger also comes with a whole pint of gooey cheddar cheese sauce (a bit like the one at Shake Shack, but much less processed), plus some fries and onion rings for good measure.
The beefed-up burger is the brainchild of Food Network and The Roadhouse and has been created to celebrate the launch of the new series of Man V. Food, meaning it’s got the official stamp of approval from new host Casey Webb.
Sadly, you’ll need to head to London to try out the huge burger, which is available for £30 from the Roadhouse restaurant from now until February 16th (or you get it free if you finish it within 15 mins).
Although after trying it out for ourselves – and managing to devour four out of five of the patties and feeling very ill for the rest of the day – we recommend sharing the huge (yet tasty) concoction with your friends, and splitting the £30 price tag.
If you can’t quite stomach the leaning tower of patties, don’t fret, as February appears to equal burger season…
McDonalds have also just unveiled a supersized version of their Big Mac for its 50th anniversary, or, if you wait until February 14th, Subway have buy one get one free on all their six inch subs. Wahey!

North London pub saved from developers serves free lunches to vulnerable locals
Homeless truck driver Colin Killen looked up from his steaming plate of potato, cheese and onion bake and said: “You wanna know what this hot lunch means to me?”“See that,” he said, pointing to Bruce Castle Park over the road from the north London pub where we were sitting. “I was living in that park all of January. I slept on that park bench. I had been evicted and made homeless and I was terrified, freezing and hungry. But more than the hunger, it’s the loneliness that kills you.”
Get A Buzz On At The London Coffee Festival
by Phil Clarke | Posted on 6th March 2018

An event to really get you buzzing, the London Coffee Festival is frothing its steady way towards us, so grab a mug and meet us at Brick Lane’s Old Truman Brewery.
Now in its eighth year, this celebration of caffeinated goodness is Europe’s largest gathering of coffee aficionados and 0218 promises to be the largest get together yet with over 35,000 guests enjoying the beany wares of over 250 exhibitors poured over four floors.
Not only will all the perpetually wired visitors (coz freebies) be able to stroll around checking out the wares, there will also be live music from DJs and musicians, speciality tastings, artisan workshops and showcases from world-class baristas. There will even be Late Art Live, an event bringing together the world’s top latte art specialists (yes, that is a thing).
And in the evening, loosen up and dance the night away at The Espresso Martini Party, the festival’s annual Friday night party. Also in attendance will be the Flat White Martini and Baileys and Sandows Cold Brew.
If you’re into cofffee, then this event will keep you up in anticipation for days until it arrives, then up with the coffee shakes for days afterwards.
The London Coffee Festival runs from Friday 13th to Sunday 15th April.
